New Mark Paintings, 2016

Magnus Hammick's work explores human scale within the landscape. This series divide the canvas into two planes, using loose brushwork and vibrant tones to launch the viewer into the immersive. The formal simplicity and striking sense of colour highlights the static moments created in these works. Crisper lines and contrasting chromatic planes create asymmetry and an infinite variety of movement, rhythm and tension across the canvas with the most unobtrusive application of paint.
